Employment

Working at Adventurous Christians is truly a Christian adventure. There are many different positions here at camp that will challenge you in your faith and ability. Listed below you will find a brief description of the various opportunities for ministry.

Trail guide - 4

The trail guide is primarily responsible for preparing and leading a small group of people on a canoe trip through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Groups vary in size from 4-8 and ages vary from middle school to senior citizens at times.  Other responsibilities will include leading devotionals, teaching wilderness skills, teaching creation stewardship and environmental awareness. The trail guide will strive to cultivate an atmosphere of Christian community that will challenge the group to help each other grow spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. The trail guide will keep in mind that his/her first priority is the group.  Guides are expected to challenge their group spiritually, mentally, and physically.  They must be prepared for the unexpected and ready for any challenge.   Guides must have a desire to work with people and share their Christian faith with them. It is recommended, though not required, that a trail guide has camping experience and must be at least 20 years of age.  Guides must be certified in American Red Cross CPR and Life Guarding.

Kitchen Supervisor - 1

This is the most cut and dry position at camp.  The Kitchen Supervisor has over-all responsibility of the kitchen and trail food.  They are responsible for keeping the inventory up in both areas. The Kitchen Supervisor will plan and make creative and nutritious meals for both staff and guests. They are expected to keep accurate records of food purchases and costs. The Kitchen Supervisor will make sure the kitchen area is clean at all times and that the area is operated under the health standards of the Minnesota State Board of Health. The person must also be involved in leading daily devotions and willing to share their Christian faith with camper groups. The position includes work in other areas of camp when the need arises such as hosting in base guests or helping on projects in camp.  The Kitchen Supervisor is also in charge of kitchen help and is expected to ensure that the guidelines are followed.

Cook/Trail Guide/In Base Support - 1

This position is unique because it requires responsibility in all areas of camp.  This person will act as Kitchen Supervisor Asst., Trail Guide, and In Base Support.  This is a position for someone who likes variety and a blend of all areas of service.

In Base Support - 1
